The Snow Well – “Pouet de Neu”
The Snow Well is located in the neighbourhood popularly known as the “Seraglio” above the old town of Onil. It is an ancient refrigerator which was excavated from soil along the “Barranc de Montserrat”. This monument is an example of the traditional and historic architectural works that were built in Valencia during the 17th and 18th centuries for storing snow. This historic building recreates the process of collection and storage of snow for the production and marketing of ice.
