HISTORY OF INDUSTRIAL ONIL
Ramón Mira Guardia Civil by profession and a great lover of the plastic arts
was the first manufacturer of dolls in Spain using
clay, back in 1877. He painted, decorated and makeup
dolls, and his wife made the costumes.
Soon the clay was replaced by
ointment homemade carob flour, caustic soda, starch
potatoes, sawdust, pine bark and crushed pieces of cardboard, which gave
the name "Gacha". With this potion mixed cold Fill
iron and bronze molds to create different parts of the wrist
(arms, legs, body and head). After linking these pieces with a
cord for dolls movement upright.

Juan Isidro Rico gave life to Cayetana doll, which was sponsored by the
Duchess of Alba. Made of cardboard bathed whitetail, had
a great success in Spain.
In 1955 they settled in Onil first two machines
injected plastic extruders, which heats the material to
liquefy it and inject it into molds. It was the use of plastic which
would create dolls of many shapes and colors varied,
previously created molds. Different parts of the doll
were attached by rubber bands.

competitive against a changing market, avoiding the disappearance
many small business people.
