HISTORY OF INDUSTRIAL ONIL

Ramón Mira Guardia Civil by profession and a great lover of the plastic arts was the first manufacturer of dolls in Spain using clay, back in 1877. He painted, decorated and makeup dolls, and his wife made the costumes.

Soon the clay was replaced by ointment homemade carob flour, caustic soda, starch potatoes, sawdust, pine bark and crushed pieces of cardboard, which gave the name "Gacha".
